Pros

Some programs are less toxic than others. I had a good experience with a smaller program, but the toxicity of Raytheon was more evident when I was moved to a larger program.

Cons

Sexual assault, even in its most vile forms, is covered up by HR. I ran to the HR department after I was assaulted looking for refuge but I didn’t realize that they use my vulnerability and tear filled eyes to manipulate me into signing papers saying I wouldn’t press charges. They told me that if I wanted the man prosecuted I had to sign the papers. It was a lie, but I took their word for it and didn’t read the papers until days later. When a second incident happened I went to HR, this time I wasn’t going to be victimized twice, and they apologized for the earlier dismissal of my concerns and when I asked about the HR person by first name and description they said no one by that name every worked there. They took my statement and I told them I wanted to press charges. Two days later, my skip level boss and assailant, told me I was moving to a new assignment where I would be sitting just across from him. He made my life hell by having his three direct reports micromanage and question everything I did. They even interrogated me about every person I talked to and if I had romantic feelings for them. I finally told one of them to eff off and I was immediately fired. It clearly states that vulgarity is grounds for dismissal so I had no leg to stand on. I spent a year being physically and sexually traumatized, being lied to by HR and harassed by my monster’s goblins. It is a wonder I made it through alive.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
