Pros

WAS a great company to work with (for) Stability is fantastic - You don't have to worry about or plan for advancement Training doesn't take a lot out of you - it's enough to do the job but does nothing to help your chances to be promotable Training is also continuous - It's required because of the high turnover of associates Save a lot of time on problem issues - No need to waste time talking to upper management since they don't want to hear anything negative nor do they care Recent managements hires who hold a Williams-Sonoma card can be placed in positions far exceeding their ability with no Leadership, People or Communication skills required - This does not apply in any way to those hired before 2011 Work/Family Balance - This is fantastic as long as you understand its 90% work to 10% family Collateral Employment - keeps Doctors busy addressing the effects of stress, frustration & depression.

Cons

With so many "Pros" the "Cons" are difficult After several years employment, not one person in upper management asked or even cared about the "WHY" I was leaving. Money / profits are highly valued - People are expendable and can be treated that way With current upper Management, the building could have been designed much better, by installing a revolving door for Associates Leads and Area Managers Leadership is talked about but rarely exercised. Core values are always directed to the person you are talking to. Admitting that you'd willingly steal from your own company means nothing No advancement only lateral moves. Broken every single one of the "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" - Ignorance of those laws is no excuse

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
