Pros

-They hire amazing people! -You're trusted with responsibility almost immediately and have the space to build out processes and take ownership of your role. Trust and ownership comes early in your tenure. -Fast paced environment (aka little fires everywhere), that works well for those who thrive in uncertainty, chaos, and frenetic situations. It's rare that more than 2 days in a row will be the same. -HQ employees are given an amazing canvas tote bag during onboarding :)

Cons

-Toxic executive people leadership with lack of awareness, thinly veiled racist and homophobic tendencies, and ZERO Human Resources experience. -Boomer led capitalistic expectations that are better suited to 1995. HQ employees have ZERO flexibility in their schedule, hybrid work is not an option at all, with those living in SF and the East Bay (aka where most of the talent is) having to commute and pay tolls over bridges to access the office. -Turnover is more than 80% with most associates lasting between 6 and 9 months due to lack of culture, lack of flexibility, lack of work/life balance, and lack of realistic work expectations. -Sanitizer was removed from office spaces for aesthetic reasons and that is the best indicator of how the pandemic has been treated within the organization. Offices never closed and associates were never given the option to work from home unless they had an ADA accommodation from a healthcare provider stating their health dictated a need to work remotely. -With increased sales and profit margin as of Q3 2021, the CEO was still unwilling to match employee 401(k). Upper leadership will state that he is "not convinced that associates want that benefit" or that there are better ways to reward associates. The truth is that the executive team is unwilling to invest the $8M to match.

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
