Pros

It's not a hard job, nor is it challenging...mentally or physically. I suppose that's a plus for most people. (not for me) Fairly competitive wages. Lots of small breaks...both official and just because of circumstances. (Such as a lack of customers) In general, co-workers are nice, friendly people. The nice to jerk ratio is very high. The uniform is not completely awful. I've seen worse. (Namely: Chuck E. Cheese's) Lunch is always close, and the variety of foods that one could eat is a little overwhelming. Sub sandwiches are my favorite. Flexibility in work schedule. Interchangeability in employees, which is inefficient, but a nice situation to be in.

Cons

It's not a hard job, nor is it challenging...mentally or physically...which can be good sometimes, but mostly, it's just frustrating. The are way too many employees at Publix. The workforce is incredibly bloated...This cuts down on the amount of appreciation that one can receive for doing their job well. Promotions are based on who can work on the cheap, therefore their management is simply awful. Low expectations...which leads to loser co-workers that don't do what they're supposed to, even though they get paid just as much as you, sometimes more. There's a complete culture of "we'll set the bar low. That way, we'll never be disappointed." There's no pressure to do anything...which is simply infuriating.

Pros

Amazing 401K, free stock after one year of employment, health insurance is very good for part-time employees if only getting it for yourself, management always approves time off requests, hours are always available, will work around school schedules, tuition reimbursement program, will reimburse you for gas for work-related expenses as needed and will put you in a hotel as needed for work-related reasons that are more than 50 miles from your home.

Cons

Not every store is the same, some stores are run better than others, some managers look down upon people with disabilities, and some see people with disabilities the same as someone without disabilities, they are very big about favoritism, you have to work a lot to earn a vacation, the company does not give out sick time and full-time gets the most benefits and is next to impossible to get full-time. Also, you practically have to be a former employee with a clean record or related in some way to a current employee to get a job with the company though Kentucky Publix's don't quite function that way.
