Pros

-You can basically do close to nothing for 6 months and still get a raise (So long as you don't do something really stupid, such as steal or lie.) -They won't fire you unless you unless you steal or lie. -Occasional discounts at places if you mention you're a Publix employee (I got a discount on a gym membership.)

Cons

-Management likes to play favorites, and unless you're in their little clique, prepare for a miserable work environment. -If you so much as know how to do a job well (Example: Mop, sweep, etc.) They will call on you to do it whenever you come in or schedule your shifts at times when it is best for you to do that job. -If you for whatever reason screw up even a little in the eyes of the managers, they will do whatever they can to screw with you, such as scheduling you close to no hours, not allow you to move to another department, or make you do things around the store that border on the ridiculous (Example: Cleaning up cigarette butts in front of the store.) -A lot of the people in the store (Managers included) like to gossip and spread rumors as though they were in high school. -The same music plays day in and day out. -Only full-time employees get any real benefits.

Pros

Good compensation including not just standard pay, but also end of year bonus 80 hours for hourly associates, 8% of your annual earnings granted to you in free company stock thru which quarterly dividends are paid, ok 401k, and gift card and other associate coupons. Good stability and growth. Good company culture.

Cons

Can be slow and resistant to change. Uses some antiquated systems and software that should have been replaced years ago. Does some things that don't make sense. Some managers can be good, while others not very good. Although these cons may be true for a lot of companies. All roads eventually lead to Lakeland where they are headquartered. Geography can be a big one if you are not a Florida native. If you don't want to live in Florida for some legitimate reasons, there can be limited job options in other states, especially if you aren't interested in retail or warehouse jobs. Standard retail negatives about not having a lot of holidays off.
