Pros

Decent hours Opportunity for easy advancement Bi-annual raises (potentially) Weekly pay Management knows what they're doing Excellent benefits for P/T and F/T Multiple departments to work in Good place to work if you're young and need a job or if you're a hard-worker because advancement does not require college degrees. Publix is what I call a "resume padder" anyone who knows about Publix would mostlikely be happy and quick to look at your application than others because they have most likely had very pleasant interactions there.

Cons

High employee turnover at store-level Lack of enthusiasm among lower employees Benefits require 1yr and 1,000 hours Have to fight for hours sometimes (depends on department) My last couple evals I achieved what Publix calls "Role-Model" status which is the highest you can get for and eval and both of my raises were larger than the standard raise. Unfortunately it is not uncommon for my store to shaft me on hours. I had one of those evals 3 weeks ago and prior to it I was enjoying 30+ hours a week (split between two departments). After that eval my hours have dropped to 25, 27 and most recently 19.5. I'm about to be married and they know this. I have proven myself to be a superior worker as compared to nearly any and all else in my departments yet there remains a failure to recognize it (and I'm not trying to say I feel like I have to be recognized).

Pros

Management is very good. Phenomenal work environment.

Cons

The hours for part-time were not fixed, so it was a challenge to juggle some schedules given at times.

Pros

Amazing 401K, free stock after one year of employment, health insurance is very good for part-time employees if only getting it for yourself, management always approves time off requests, hours are always available, will work around school schedules, tuition reimbursement program, will reimburse you for gas for work-related expenses as needed and will put you in a hotel as needed for work-related reasons that are more than 50 miles from your home.

Cons

Not every store is the same, some stores are run better than others, some managers look down upon people with disabilities, and some see people with disabilities the same as someone without disabilities, they are very big about favoritism, you have to work a lot to earn a vacation, the company does not give out sick time and full-time gets the most benefits and is next to impossible to get full-time. Also, you practically have to be a former employee with a clean record or related in some way to a current employee to get a job with the company though Kentucky Publix's don't quite function that way.
