Pfizer is generally a good place to work. Unfortunate location for it's PGRD headquarters. - IT Senior Manager Pfizer Employee Review

Pros

Lots of opportunities. If you want, you can really take control of your own life.

Cons

Location in Connecticut. The Connecticut site is full of old, fat, dull, people with little imagination, obsessed with rules and sticking to standard process. There is very little collaboration. The offices are like prisons, the buildings seem to come out of the 50's. They do not in the least encourage communication or collaboration. As a result the place appears to be dead at 4.00pm in the afternoon. When they re-model some of the buildings they are going to find dead people inside, where office doors haven't been opened for years. The other sites around the world are far far better and models of communication. Stop being so obsessed by image. Connecticut has the old american view that if someone comes across flashy with all the correct words (sounding like a consultant) they should be promoted. The rest of the world is moving away to actually check that these people are good and can deliver things.

Pros

A good amount of remote monitoring, which depending on how you view can be a positive.

Cons

Changing systems and inconsistent standards are applied to people. There are many differing models that often muddy how you are supposed to do your job, especially when other staff members don't quite understand. How do you interface with the changing models? There tends to be a lot of blame and foisting of responsibilities. Sometimes you can become overburdened with a lot of work, where people do not respect your time and think that their tasks should take priority. It is possible to be contacted late at night with work to do and then be criticized the next day for not being able to keep up.
