Pros

Depending on what group you're in and who your main client is, you will most likely have a lot of opportunities to work overtime and make a decent amount of additional money/get incentives (Gift cards - amount varies among groups). You start with 17 days of PTO - wow. Depending on your group, you'll move up to associate scientist in one year. Good benefits.

Cons

PPD is hiring a lot of student out of college right now because the GMP portion in Middleton, WI is doing well and gaining clients. However, PPD is all about money. Promotions only occur in April of each year, unless you apply for a different position within the company. Because PPD hired so many people last year, some may not get the promotions they deserve solely because PPD doesn't want to spend that much money. Promotions aren't based on your work and how well you perform, they're mostly based off of length of service there. Someone who started in June will get a promotion over someone who started in July of the previous year. Everyone in the office hates on PPD. No one actually WANTS to be there because corporate tries to act like they care about employees…they have a terrible way of showing that. I've made many good friends from working at PPD, however, every one of them intends on leaving in the near future.

Pros

Provided health insurance. Good coworkers Good exposure to team at client site If you have a good technical lead, the job can be great!

Cons

You have 2 bosses (Technical lead from Client Site) and your PPD boss. PPD Boss does not know what is going on If you have a bad technical lead, your life can be miserable. Pay is low No protection from abusive technical lead (coworkers on same team can have a drastically different experience)
