Pros

I can honestly say that this is a great place to work. I have worked at 2 different Old Navy locations and could definitely see a difference in both, so I cannot speak on behalf of all locations. However, where I currently work I am happy with the relationships I have built with my coworkers and I have somewhat tough, but great bosses. I also go to University while holding a job and they are understandable of my availability. They are flexible in the hours they give based on the hours I can work so that work does not interfere with my classes and school activities. I don't hate going into work every time so that's also a plus. The work environment does have a lot to do with who you work with and the customers you receive so there's that. You will experience lots of incredibly rude customers but that's everywhere and you learn the right way to handle situations. You also receive a lot of training before they put you onto the salesfloor. Employee discount is also great, it's at 50% regular price items now and that's at gap and banana as well. Athleta only 25% but you get discounts on sale there.

Cons

Not much growth opportunity, especially if you don't work there full time. Also, don't expect a great raise if you don't become a lead. I have been working as a brand associate for 3 years and have only been raised a few cents an hour since I started working there. Also, too much pressure is placed on you getting old navy card sign ups for customers. You're not really appreciated for all the hard work you do unless it's getting those cards. In all my 3 years I have provided excellent customer service and great RAD (folding/organization system), but have only received praise when I had a high amount of sign ups in a day. Hours are also scarce. You may notice if you are not great at getting the cards, you may also receive a lot less hours. When I started getting better at sign ups, I noticed a lot more hours were given to me compared to before.

Pros

You might meet some lifelong friends! Long tenure if you are willing to give up everything to try to be a successful employee Good EAP program for short term intensive therapy…

Cons

Public criticism, condescending communication, inconsistent accountability, and fear-based management styles became increasingly common. Feedback often felt reactive rather than constructive, and many employees did not feel psychologically safe speaking openly about concerns. There was also a significant lack of consistency between leaders and stores. Expectations changed constantly, communication was often unclear, and favoritism sometimes impacted accountability and decision-making. Long-term employees who consistently stepped up during difficult periods often felt taken for granted rather than appreciated. Reporting to HR will get you no where. You will be gaslit if you choose to speak up.
