Pros

I have been with Navartis for coming on 6 months. I joined with 0 knowledge of 360 recruitment from a prior sales role. The only slight experience I had was internally looking for people for my own team and recruiters calling me. I came in as and still am a Trainee Recruitment Consultant. When I applied and interviewed, I liked the idea of this because I had the opportunity to come into a completely new role/environment and learn. I personally felt like most places would expect experience within that industry in order to be considered for a screening call, but I was judged on my prior successes and eagerness to develop. My time here so far has been a rollercoaster, I have had the highest highs and the lowest lows and grafted every day. I think this is something to be aware of – Recruitment is sales but sales times 10. You are not selling a product; you are pitching someone’s hard earned experience and dedicated time to their field to a client of which both parties could change their minds at any point. You are a mediator, a reliable person, an expert in the field (even when you start and know nothing) and sometimes a therapist all wrapped into one. Even though I have had a rollercoaster ride of emotions so far, I have enjoyed every single day of being within the company and especially within my team. The things I enjoy the most about working here is the support. You are and will continue to be surrounded by people who want you to succeed, from CEO downwards. For me, I consider myself lucky to be within the team I am. I am surrounded by the top recruiters within the business and at first that was a scary thought and slightly intimidating but from day 1 I have been nothing but welcomed and supported and I do look forward to coming into work every day which for me is something I have been looking for. I mentioned that I am and came in as a trainee recruitment consultant, you are not just left without any help. I went through an intensive 12 week training course which I was very grateful for. I think the main thing to mention with this is that it is all done in house AND by people who have actually been in your position before. This gave me a lot of hope because in my first month I felt very out of my depth. But seeing success stories all over the business and receiving such a great training course made me feel hopeful and actually cared about, like I was not just a number on a KPI chart. Advice for others: • If you are afraid of hard work…this will petrify you. You will be surrounded by people who graft day in day out. • The job is HARD. It will always be difficult; you have to accept that but be willing to overcome obstacles. Think outside the box and rely on others expertise. • Don’t have an ego. You will be surrounded by the best of the best, accept that and learn. Listen to them and take on board their advice.

Cons

Somethings to be aware of though: • Recruitment is not for everyone. The job is tough, it is constant dials, speaking, developing knowledge, helping, calling again and again until someone answers who will listen and that does not stop. If you are scared of the phone then I don’t think this is right for you and it is not just 2 months of smashing the phone every day, it will always be your day to day and fundamentals of a successful recruiter from day 1 of training bay. • You will face constant rejection. People hanging up, market being slow, candidates not looking, clients having a PSL. If being told no multiple times a day everyday is something you don’t like then this wouldn’t be the place for you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, we do use these reviews to help understand where we need to improve and also to see where we are getting things right. Reading your recent review we are sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience. We do pride ourselves on recruiting people with little to no sales experience and developing them into successful recruitment consultants and we have a huge amount of success stories, which we are truly proud of. We feel our training and development is one of the things that sets us apart part. We also fully appreciate that it is a tough job, that requires a lot of determination, focus and dedication and due to this, some people that join find that it’s not the right role for them… which is common in recruitment. We wish you luck in whatever you choose to move into. Navartis
