Pros
Assigned projects to work with teams on developing technology for flight and space applications. The job allowed a lot of mentorship between the different projects and exposure to see full life-cycle of NASA projects and missions.
Cons
NASA does a full-cost accounting for each project, which as I understood you are paid by a percentage of a project that you are working on. The issue with it is that not all project funding is available immediately and often is only available for a short period which means that when your project runs out of funds or at the beginning of the new fiscal years, you gain a new charge code to charge your labor hours. Its a minor inconvenience but it often causes a lot of stress and distraction when your busy making deadlines and need to contact team leads and managers to figure out how you should be charging your time.
