Pros

There aren't many PROs left anymore if you are a new employee/Applicant especially now that internally teams have merged to become one. There is lot of demand/competition internally for meaningful work which probably has the tendency to work against the interests of new or younger employees. MSI's major selling point has been 2 way radios and unfortunately outside of Motorola there isnt much scope for this technology or for people skilled in this area. Most my colleagues have been working here since 15-20 years. They are more aware/skilled in the technology of the 80-90's. IP skills among many are non-existent. So unless your interested in working for a group that specializes at 2-way radio communications system test there isnt any incentive to work here. Very less scope for promotions/incentives due overall state of the business which desperately needs customers.

Cons

I can probably talk endlessly to describe the downside of working for Motorola but I will try to highlight a few factors which summarize state of affairs at MSI, In the last 5 years Motorola as an entity/Brand has lost both its Mobile Phone Business arm in Libertyville, IL.(To Google which then sold it to Lenovo) and the Arlington Heights, IL location (which specialized in CDMA and WiMax/LTE) to Nokia Siemens which also resulted job cuts for former Motorola Employees working in WiMax/CDMA and some in LTE. Motorola as whole has been shrunken down to the Schaumburg location which specializes in selling 2-way Radio/ Private Broadband tech for public safety customers. This location has also seen a lot of job cuts and reorganizations and layoffs which has affected many of my peers and colleagues with whom I have worked with in the recent past. Most of the development has been moved over to Krakow, Poland. The campus area has also shrunk with Motorola selling most of its land/buildings to Zurich North America and Zebra Inc. The latest news hinting at a possible sale of the company to another buyer/investor is discouraging. Working here would not only limit exposure to an outdated technology with a declining customer base but also lead to an uncertain and unsatisfying job experience. There are definitely better jobs out there which are more rewarding than working for MSI.

Pros

Excellent work-life balance: The company respects personal time and maintains a healthy, sustainable work environment. Strong and supportive leadership: Management is genuinely invested in employee success and actively encourages upskilling. Opportunities for technical diversification: I joined as a Salesforce CPQ Developer, and leadership supported me in training for MuleSoft alongside my existing role. I am now handling both platforms and built deep expertise in MuleSoft Integration by successfully completing 4 projects. Great career growth: Thanks to the leadership team's encouragement and the opportunities provided, there is a clear, proven path for expanding my technical stack and advancing my career.

Cons

I do not have any cons to report at this time. It has been a great place to work and grow my career.
