I ultimately left Mercer because I was not seeing the career and pay progression I had expected and felt I deserved. Even after receiving excellent feedback from my teams, and performing at the level above me, there was no raise or promotion. Even if I waited around another year, the future still looked grim due to how upper management has been choosing to approach these things for rank and file consultants. To explain further, many who did get promoted this year only received a ~1% raise. Not to mention bonuses were cut again! If there’s one way to show you don’t properly value your people, that’s how you do it. I am not surprised at all how many people left Mercer in last 6 months because of this.
