Pros
- alot of good coworkers, you can make lifelong friends here - good discount - social and fun working on the floor - lots of good policies in place that protect workers - gratis/incentive initiatives (store-based)
Cons
I worked at three different locations, and had different experiences from them all. A strong favouritism culture, but that is just inevitable in retail. Internal drama/bullying is really common, I think that just comes with the industry and I do think MECCA attempts to do alot to prevent it. I had a really awful manager at a store, which everyone had been ridiculed by and consistently complained about, but she went on to get promoted and win the biggest award internally - which everyone was shocked about. I think their biggest con is the "feedback" and the way it sometimes feels as though managers are nitpicking on small things, but they are incredibly underpaid and overworked on a daily basis. I would really like to see MECCA implement new systems and policies like giving managers work phones etc. (because they definitely can afford to) so managers can have a better work/life balance, and will be kinder/less stressed instore which benefits the entire team.
