Pros

Paid every week They will hire anyone so if you really need to get your foot in the door it is a place to start

Cons

The management only cares about getting credit cards and once you get them they don't even acknowledge it. When payroll is horrible (as it is for our store now) expect only 4-8 hrs a week as a part-time employee. They shrink down the associates per shift to save money and then have unrealistic expectations about cleaning and getting work done. There have been several times where people have been responsible for doing 3 depts at once plus jumping onto registers whenever it got busy. Talk about stressful. Then when closing time comes along, the managers expect the store to be perfect. The managers do not care about associates what so ever so if you have a problem, do not waste your time by talking to them, they will ignore you.

Pros

The work is the same every day (at least for janitors), and you don't have many surprises. In my experience, there is a lot of leeway for who does what as long as it gets done. I don't personally mind helping out in all departments after I am done cleaning. Current store manager (not asms) is very nice and understanding.

Cons

The management (Assistant managers in my experience) is at each other's throats to be the best out there and suck up to the district manager. The pressure to coerce customers into buying into the TJX card is a bit much. It all trickles down to the front end, which then causes everyone to be unhappy. Compensation is low and raises are based on company loyalty first, then your efficiency.
