Marriott International

Engaged Employer

Depending on what you are hired for, Marriott is a job with little to no room for advancement. - Banquet Server Marriott International Employee Review

Pros

Great schedule, friendly coworkers and some nice supervisors. Hotel room discounts are also a plus, though I rarely ever used it. 4myhr has a discount site where you can get discounts on computers, phone service, etc. We also had many informative meetings and competitions.

Cons

Don't apply for an on call position!!! I was hired thinking I was a part time employee moving up to a full time position. I got a 90 day pay raise and that was it. On call workers are ineligible for any pay raises after a 90 day pay raise, even if you work forty hours and overtime. You also can't get any benefits or any paid time off. I averaged 35 hours a week for two years and my managers could care less that I wanted to move up to a full-time position. The food at our hotel was disguisting crap. Thank god I graduated from college and now have a REAL job.

Pros

Free meal, great management team that genuinely cares about the employes.

Cons

Employee parking is a daily struggle with no real solution in sight. Traffic in/off the island is just as bad. Co-workers are hit/miss. Some care and truly want to do their part, others just there for a temporary paycheck. A lot of turnover with new faces weekly.
