Pros

Based on the location of the property.

Cons

I can't speak on behalf of other departments. But the front desk is managed by a putrescent executive. Marriott’s so called phrase that they’ve always coined “take care of your employees and they’ll take care of the guest“ is nothing more than a corporate jargon. From my past experiences for the last 10 years working in hospitality and multiple different properties with many different walks of life. I’ve had the pleasure of working and meeting many different personalities from all sorts of positions held. The worst Hotel that I’ve worked at for the past 10 years from many different hoteliers has to be the biggest Marriott that’s managed by corporate in San Francisco. Like all places, Human Resources is there to protect the company from you, not you from the company. They will twist and spin things out of context to fit their narrative so that you can’t offer any rebuttal. Not only that the establishment in itself is one of the worst places you can work for in terms of work ethics and new leadership directing the building. Ones that have no sense of servant leadership, but rather fueled and driven by their own narcissistic ego. This place doesn’t care about what you know, it’s about who you know. It’s ran on nepotism, favoritism and sycophancy. Many positions held here are friends and family of one another on quid pro quo terms with the mentality of my way or the high way. You either acquiesce or kick rocks. For an executive director who’s been on the property for two months to start handing out promotions to individuals who they deem as a confidant over supervisors with many years of experience and technical skills is nothing short of egregious. Somehow a year through the Voyager program equates to decades of experience. So why waste years of your life in a company who doesn’t respect the time you invested in them. They can also turn a blind eye or regulate who they deem as an adversary. When discrepancies and issues are brought up. Any inactions from management are under the guise of confidentiality or nothing has been discovered. It’s tantalizing at first, but you can spend the next five years with this company and not expect anything. Because your career is dictated by a narcissist that only cares about promoting the overzealous obsequious sycophants. Sycophantic behavior is being defined as people skills and passed off as qualifications for management. Which is a sad reality that you have to be kissing rear ends in order to progress your career. So unless you like groveling and adulating a narcissist that’s fishing for accolades. This place is only looking to groom potential obedient lapdogs that will fall in line with their objectives. If it’s like this at a single property, imagine it on a higher corporate level.

Pros

Large building with many great people you will work alongside and who are very helpful.

Cons

Differences of treatment between workers with the hotel and contracted workers felt wrong. Paid hourly but was expected to respond to emails and calls outside of working hours on occasion. Unrealistic expectations from management regarding reviews given the state of the rooms and facilities.
