Pros
The office is in a good location. Teaches you everything you do not want in a job.
Cons
I started here fresh out of university. I began working at MS in June of 2021 having been declined from other job vacancies. I am Spanish so thought this was the perfect company for me. I was honestly very happy at the time that I had finally secured a job in consulting and was very excited for my career. The day I started I found it odd that there were 0 introductions to my team or even basic tutorials on how to use the systems (accessing intranet, booking holiday, points of contact for certain issues, etc.) but tried to remain optimistic. All of my friends who had started other grad schemes were going through thorough in person training, team introductions and socials, tutorials on how to use their software and systems, etc. This does not exist at MS. You arrive, you get given a laptop, and you have to figure everything out by yourself. There is absolutely zero relevant training. You are briefly taught some maths and excel but this is the least engaging thing I have ever done and is clearly just done to tick a box. You are assigned a mentor, but they are typically so busy and overworked that they barely have a minute to assist you. Which is worrying seeing as these are meant to be the people who assist you on projects. HR? Not a thing here. I emailed HR multiple times for help with different issues and they did not even respond. At this point I knew something was very wrong. The partner who was responsible for me was one of the most patronising people I have ever met. They will make you feel stupid for not understanding technical aspects that a new joiner of a company/industry would never understand. Within weeks myself and many of the new joiners who joined alongside me were absolutely shocked at the company. We would go weeks without responses, be ignored by our seniors when asking for help, and it was just so clear that there was a lot wrong with the company. At this point, we all knew something was very wrong and immediately began looking for jobs again. It is normal within consulting that people remain at the company they begin in for at least a few years. Here it seems like people begin and are immediately looking to leave because of how awful it is. Looking back, I wish I had not signed for this job and instead just carried on applying and had waited. It was the most miserable time of my life. My biggest piece of advice to anyone joining here is do not do it. Wait and find something better. Don't get excited by the fact that you bagged a job because they will employ anyone as they just care about having enough employees to provide to their clients so that they can receive a payment for your work. I parted with the company on good terms and luckily I was able to move to another financial consulting job that I love. But I feel like I have to leave this review because I promise you that when you are absolutely miserable due to the company you are working for it is awful. No matter how desperate you are for a job, I promise you that it is not worth working here.
