Pros

Get Friday afternoons off on a fairly regular basis

Cons

The strapline of the cult 60s drama 'The Prisoner' was 'I am not a number, I am a free man' Simply not true at Jacobs you're just another cog in the wheel, a number on a spreadsheet. Once your face no longer fits (and that generally is dependent on just how sycophantic you can be when speaking to your line manager) you'll find your progression opportunities vanish before being sent on a secondment at some God forsaken town in the middle of nowhere, and usually left there to rot. Most people leave when this occurs - the outcome that Jacobs wanted in the first place and which saves them thousands of pounds in possible redundancy claims. It's an awful, soulless organisation and it's just a shame that senior management never bother reading these reviews and making changes.
