Pros

Benefits and coworkers are great

Cons

I've never worked for a company as disorganized as this one. There is no clear direction from anyone top down. When I started, microbial treatment was our top goal. When I was let go, that was barely even talked about. No focus, no direction. Upper management is trying ANYTHING to keep this sinking ship afloat but unfortunately, I don't think that is possible. No one up top knows what they want, so they can't relay a message down below. No communication. Goals are unattainable and workers are treated like disposable entities. There have been SEVERAL rounds of layoffs in the past 2 months - this includes entire departments being wiped out, people being demoted arbitrarily, laying off people who were hired two months ago, etc. The company keeps restructuring hoping that this will be what makes the company actually work but having an actual focus will be the only saving grace. Indigo's mission is to help farmers, but that's the last of their worries. Indigo cares more about their perception than actually paying growers on time and doing what's best for THEM. I genuinely feel bad for the growers who have been conned into thinking this company is revolutionary.

Indigo Response

As you know, Indigo was founded on the idea of systematically changing the agriculture industry for the benefit of growers, consumers and the planet. Along the way, we have tried many products and services. Some of our work was successful, some of it simply didn’t meet growers’ needs and didn’t work. We are focused on the tools needed to support grower profitability, including Indigo Marketplace. Marketplace grew over 50 percent per month in the second half of 2019 and currently over half of all the grain buyers in the U.S. are customers. We have been overwhelmed by transaction volume and have enhanced our payment process to address this. Thank you for your review and thank you for the positive comments about employee benefits and your colleagues.

Pros

Decent base salaries. Due to the company's structure and goal shifting, you get experience in a lot of different aspects of the company. Past non-negotiable goal milestones, there is some flexibility, you have the opportunity and freedom to make the job your own. Good work-life balance, and commendable company goals around sustainable ag etc. made working here stand out.

Cons

Raises and bonuses not given for several years due to company not reaching unattainable goals. Lots of turnaround from constant layoffs. During my time there, I had a new manager about every year. No clear goals, and when they are clear they constantly shift. It is hard to grow salary wise within the company, especially when money is tight. You will be able to get more responsibilities and learn new skills, but don't expect your pay to reflect this. Lots of financial mismanagement within the company causing current R&D funding and operations to be barely present.
