Pros

People here are great, even many mangers are interested in mentoring and supporting employees

Cons

Unfortunately the word from the top appears to be "treat entry level people horribly." Either they'll keep you as a temp forever, saying they don't have the budget to make you permanent, or they'll bring you on salary and expect you to work 60 plus hours a week. Everyone here works hard and there's a lot of talent being squandered on menial tasks. No one in upper managementry prioritizes professional development or gives good opportunities to advance your career, they will just grind people up until they quit. Injuries from equipment, labor and repetitive stress are common and no one cares.

First and foremost, thank you for your feedback. As our Head of People, I’m disappointed to read your review as it certainly does not reflect the culture we think we believe we are building. I do want to address a few of your specific points: • Temporary employees – you are correct that there was a time when there was not a clear path for temp employees, but we have since implemented policies to make the roles more clear and convert people quickly and so far this is working well • Working hard – While it is true that people work hard at Indigo, typically that is because people are so inspired by our big mission. As a culture, we prioritize health and wellness and aim to make Indigo a supportive and flexible work environment. We don’t believe those things are mutually exclusive. • Professional development – this is a top priority on our People agenda, and from first-hand experience and conversations, I also know that it is a priority for members of our senior management team. • Injuries – We have had only a handful of minor injuries in the lab during the course of our existence and all were handled quickly with much care and thought by our dedicated lab manager and broader team. Overall, I am sorry that you left with the impression that we don’t value entry and mid-level people. This is certainly not what I believe or what I would say our leadership believes, from my experience. However, we appreciate you taking the time to comment as we know that feedback only helps us improve.

Pros

Decent base salaries. Due to the company's structure and goal shifting, you get experience in a lot of different aspects of the company. Past non-negotiable goal milestones, there is some flexibility, you have the opportunity and freedom to make the job your own. Good work-life balance, and commendable company goals around sustainable ag etc. made working here stand out.

Cons

Raises and bonuses not given for several years due to company not reaching unattainable goals. Lots of turnaround from constant layoffs. During my time there, I had a new manager about every year. No clear goals, and when they are clear they constantly shift. It is hard to grow salary wise within the company, especially when money is tight. You will be able to get more responsibilities and learn new skills, but don't expect your pay to reflect this. Lots of financial mismanagement within the company causing current R&D funding and operations to be barely present.
