      Pros

      There were a lot of opportunities to network within the company and see what other positions were available. Lots of movement across departments.

      Cons

      Culture is very segmented, lots of ill will between departments as well. Often difficult to get things done because company is so large.

      Resources and access to good studies to be successful in research, immediate PTO benefits, 401k match.

      Cons

      Growth opportunities/compensation - besides the annual merit raises of <3 percent I haven’t gotten a raise in 5 years.

      Pros

      The layoffs were handled quietly and unexpectedly, even though there were some early signs. They didn’t share who else was affected, but it was clearly more than just me.

      Cons

      They’re doing layoffs in phases, and my position was part of the most recent round.
