Pros
Amazing exposure to impeccable Japanese engineering prowess and determined culture. A great place to learn attention to detail and logical thinking. You'll become a better worker irrespective of your field hands down. Access to years of honda's experience in building well engineered vehicles. An opportunity to work part time at the Honda R&D Japan, possibly the mecca of the automotive world. Freedom to lead certain local projects and enjoy almost no hierarchy amongst Indians(All Indians report to japanese expert in each field who calls the shots). Some sections like the Body design category, product planning and Engine research department have a lot of good technical work.
Cons
Probably the worst HR and administration team in the world. They openly endorse and take part in the mistreatment of employees at the hands of workaholic Japanese managers and egoistic senior members They make rules to tie down the hands of Indian members, like bond(upto 5 years "enslavement" with a 20 lakh bail amount) and compulsory overtime. This place is also filled with discrimination against Indians in general. For eg,Indian employees are frisked and made to empty their bags EVERY DAY.while the security ignores the Japanese. We walk for almost a km sometimes to get lunch in the scorching heat while the Japanese are allowed to use vehicles inside the plant. There are countless other atrocities being brought down upon the employees with a surprisingly brazen attitude.I cannot list them all but the administration department has spoiled what could have been a great place to work at. And last but not the least, Pay is way belew industry standards.HONDA INDIA is a loss making company and they restate this every march. You start low and wont even beat inflation with the increments each year.
