Front Desk Agent - Front Desk Agent Holiday Inn Employee Review

Pros

I worked as a front desk agent for many years and loved it. The schedule is your typical 7a-3p; 3p-11p; 11p-7a (aka night audit). I never opted for the health insurance so I cannot comment on the benefits. However, the employee discount was totally worth it. I would 100% recommend working for a large-scale, international hotel chain because of this. I went to Paris one Christmas and stayed in hotels that cost thousands of dollars for only $65 because of the employee rate. I only left the company because I got in to graduate school. Otherwise, I would have stayed for as long as they would have me.

Cons

Starting pay was minimum wage, so this was definitely the least paying job I have ever had. Occasionally you have to deal with situations that you cannot control, like rooms booked incorrectly through Orbitz or Expedia. The customer never understands that it was an error from the third party.

Pros

The staff extremely well mannered, and in most cases very respectful always seemed happy to see people actually return.

Cons

Some of the supervises ask for more complained that you weren't getting your job done after that put 2or3 more jobs for you to do because thay couldn't keep anybody around long enough to train them.
