Pros

- Average benefits, 401K match, etc. - Overall experienced hardworking professional workforce that makes one feel empathetic for the ones that continue to stay and endure the abuse (they are like an abused spouse) - Nice facility in Madison distracts from the real issues

Cons

- Poor morale. Hard to find anyone that likes their job and career here. - Very toxic overly political workplace (people learn to show their worth by throwing others under the bus). - One of the poorest Executive teams I have ever worked with (been in my career for about 30 years) - Actively discriminates against older workers, femaies and minorities. Truly a "young" boy's network and a bunch of old guys higher up that aspire to be young guys. I was once told by HR that I could not hire a well qualified 50 something candidate because they were too old! They hold severance pay to "influence" unduly a layoff target to sign a legal release that they won't sue. - Continuous layoffs and buyouts means your job is always in jeopardy. See above. They will make you sign a release to get your severance pay. Make sure you get as much as you can from these guys because most of the time they KNOW they are in the wrong and subject to litigation. - Lower than industry and market wages, raises and bonuses. Basically a sweat shop for new grads with no career opportunities. - Technology is old and outdated and no longer the leader (or even a competitor) in many of its sectors. They just tread water while customers flee from continuing pricing increases without benefit. - Unethical leadership - Ineffective or complicent HR - HR is not working for the benefit of any employee or compliance with the law. HR is basically a facilitator for the management team's unethical or illegal management decisions. HR does not even perform exit interviews (why ask when you don't want to know?) because they are well aware of what the employees are going to say (or how they have been treated) and they just don't care.

Pros

The best part of MI is the people in the trenches — the field engineers, techs, and specialists who show up, solve problems, and support each other even when the system around them doesn’t. The teamwork, the shared experience, and the professionalism of the technical staff are what keep the wheels turning. Those relationships are the real value.

Cons

Systemic issues repeat without meaningful correction, and workarounds often become the long‑term solution. Expertise doesn’t always translate into organizational change, which leads to a cycle of recurring problems and unnecessary rework. Administrative and process inconsistencies add friction that the technical teams end up absorbing.
