Pros

HSBC as a brand is excellent. Its written policies, procedures, and the 3 principles, Open, Dependable and Connected are excellent on paper.

Cons

Promotes Bullying as the very top people only prefer their own colour to progress. The culture still reminds you of the dark times where ethnic minorities are discriminated based on their origins. Politically promote issues of gender equal pay and then discriminate against equal pay. White colleagues get away doing less work with good pay but ethnic Minorities are pressured to work long hours with less pay. Line managers authorise expense for an unlimited and unjustified reason for a favourite such as a white colleague but would refer to incorrect procedures to delay or not authorise expense claim for a non white colleague. HR is useless as they do not have the power to respond to any genuine concerns as all line managers and the top heads are colleagues and support each other.

Pros

Good, smart colleagues in other offices.

Cons

At times, decisions appeared to prioritize individual objectives over team needs, which affected collaboration and morale. Greater consideration of team perspectives and shared goals would help build trust and engagement. I observed instances where expectations communicated to the team were not consistently reflected in leadership actions. Greater consistency between stated values and day-to-day decisions would strengthen credibility and confidence within the team.
