Pros

Free cereal, and free orange juice every morning. Free birthday cake and ice cream once a month. Vending machine with snacks. Free crushed ice and soda fountain. Free pizza when overtime is required. People are nice. Floors are carpeted. Very pretty artwork and marble staircase.

Cons

Forget about vacations or outside activities as the attorneys will ask you to cancel your trip. Horrible coffee. No communication within departments. Last minute deadlines ALWAYS. Pre-planning doesn't exist. Attorneys hire non-qualified employees with no legal experience. If you do as I do and not as I say you'll get a raise but it will be 1 percent. Your raise and firm bonus are tied to the firm's collection drive and national PriceWaterhouseCoopers demographic survey. NOT your performance. Many attorneys think overtime is salary and you don't need a raise. Some shareholders look at how much overtime you made that year and your bonus is based on that. Associates are overworked and there's no mentoring. There are 10 year associates...when they should be Of Counsel. Matt Gorson isn't the CEO--Richard Rosenbaum and Brian Duffy are Co-CEO. Shareholders bill 1800 hours. Paralegals bill 1600 hours.

Pros

Flexibility in day to day schedule

Cons

The firm about faced on its core value of “Diversity is in our DNA”. Compensation is below industry for staff as the firm works to save every dollar for the partners but under pay staff. Further, the emails from the firms “executive chairman” show a lack of emotional intelligence as many of them are tone deaf to the circumstances of the day. The firm has clearly taken a shift from its socially liberal roots becoming more and more MAGA in nature.
