Pros
50% employee discount, caring managers, usually grants time off when requested
Cons
Sales associates are pretty low on the totem pole, aren't granted a ton of consideration. They keep you just under 40 hours a week so they don't have to give benefits. I understand it, but it's not right. I spent months working as a sales associate just so I get hired at corporate. I finally got a call from one of the recruiting managers and prepared answers to all potential interview questions based on the specific position I was applying for. During the phone call I was later informed that the position had already been filled, but she just wanted to speak with me and consider me for other possible positions in the future. Needless to say I was disappointed and felt I had been misled. When I asked why I wasn't notified that the position was filled earlier, she responded that "it wasn't good customer service". I beg to differ, I think what she did, was in fact terrible customer service! It put a bad taste in my mouth. I had another phone interview and was not chosen to move forward based on my prior work experience. This company does not recognize true talent, dedication, and passion when it sees it and I am extremely disheartened that Gap won't make the "riskier" hiring decisions. The brand is already is beginning to suffer from lack of originality and innovation and it will continue to do so.
