Pros

Nice office. Half the folks here are good people, on equal levels of miserable, who are stuck here because of various personal problems or because GLG dragged them down and stripped them of all ambition after the first year.

Cons

The other half of the folks at GLG are kool-aid drinkers and revenge seekers. There's a back-stabbiness that has taken years to get to this level, fully perfected and lethal. Unfortunately, most teams have manager-direct report issues, where the managers don't trickle down information (but actually put in the effort to hide things from their reports) and the direct reports are often too scared and used to acting without help and oversight. Ultimately, due to lack of communication and breakdown of trust, people start feeling cheated and disposable, and this is a problem that affects all layers of seniority throughout the company. I've personally been torn down and stomped on during my time at GLG and have seen countless of my friend sicken emotionally, mentally and physically due to the inhumane treatment at the hands of GLG management. I know everyone hopes that a new CEO and a new HR Head will help manage these behaviors, but few vicious managers can change their skins so easily and all of a sudden become what's needed just because the new directive focuses more on culture than ever before. For those strong of spirit out there, who decide to take on the challenge despite all warnings, please know that the friend you make today might be gone next week. The turnover at GLG is off the charts and I feel like there's another person I know leaving for a better, more normal, company every week. If, despite all warnings, you do join this company, use it smartly: as a platform right out of college, to figure out what you want to do with your life. Don't spend more than 2 years here. For all those who have, I've seen their spirit break, their energy drain and hope extinguished. They stayed and are probably still here. And after your rage at the indignity of this company dissipates, after the mute calm takes over, you begin slowly drinking the kool-aid yourself.

Pros

Amazing people - lots of reviews say that because it's true. You'll work with smart, genuine, hard working humans. Good benefits and perks. Interesting events and opportunities to learn. Overall, a good place to start your career!

Cons

Very fast-paced environment which definitely isn't for everyone. Lots of necessary change.

Pros

Good colleagues, arguably a good job post college (for like a year MAX)

Cons

I cannot stress enough how terrible this company is. Spent 5 years there, and watched it go further downhill every year. You leave with only soft skills (if that), and 0 actual industry knowledge. Seriously, you leave only knowing a bunch of Hocus Pocus. I am really surprised this company hasn't been bought yet. Or merged. On my team alone, we lost 7 out of our 9 managers since January... either due to layoffs or them quitting. Pay is low. There are no bonuses and it's very difficult to get a raise. 90k in NYC is poverty. There are bright people that come in with Masters, and PhDs, and MBAs -- handing them 90k is insulting.
