Pros
Chance for overtime. It used to be 20 hours a week. Now 8 is usual.
Cons
Management is hiring right and left to minimize the overtime currently but the 12 hour shift format makes it difficult to totally eliminate the overtime. It is difficult to work as a contractor for the government - we are looked down upon by the in house staff (although we make more than them). The union is ran as a personal money-making business by the founder/rep - it is not for the benefit of the workers.
