Pros
- Great place to start your career. The work and the exposure one gets is very valuable. In the first 2 months of my being there I was talking to senior executives in fortune 500 companies on a regular basis, not to mention being courted by the press and popular media for my opinion on industry trends - F&S for some mysterious reason has a good standing once you 'graduate' out of F&S and move on to the outside job market. People often welcome you and look upon you. A pay raise is a definitive possibility because of the absolutely low levels of compensation at F&S - If you are a young 20' something - which is wnat most people are - F&S is also a great place to mix work with pleasure. Lots of people meet their mates and future spouses there. - Work life balance is in abundunce.
Cons
- Management is unprofessional consisting mostly of blokes who have not worked a day outside of F&S all their lives - HR policies are weak. - Compensation is the lowest as it can be - There are smart people but mostly at the lowest level and they turn over very quickly. The dumb ones go on to become managers, partly because of how unmarketable they are in the external job market - Overall this is a very unprofessionally managed and run place which thrives on a simple business model. Hire a green horn straight from college, have him do research for a year, sell that research and make money and the green horn will then leave but who cares, the firm has already made money on him.
