Pros

At first the job was alright. Not as good as it was. But schedules are still mostly flexible. Would be even better if they adequately staffed us. But co workers are mostly nice, not too many bad apples to work with. Co workers are your support system, they're the ones who care most about you, train you, and give you advice. So never take them for granted. They are the only ones who have your back.

Cons

People keep leaving because they're not treated well anymore. I keep hearing stories from people who have worked there for a long time before Kroger took over, and they said it used to be a lot better company to work for, and ever since Kroger bought them, and this is a real statement by a co worker of mine, "Fred Meyer himself would roll over in his grave if he saw how his stores are run today". Management and corporate only care about themselves and their money. They over work us by not hiring enough people, and we are constantly pulling weight of more than one missing person. Do we get compensated for that? Hell no. We just get sporadic pep talks, crap like, "I know hours have been low lately, but we appreciate your hard work". I once heard that my manager actually DID have enough hours to go around, but purposely DIDN'T schedule more people "because nearby Fred Meyers weren't scheduling that many people". Guess what, we NEED more people on the floor because our store is bigger than theirs! DUH! IF YOU HAVE THE HOURS, FILL THEM UP!!! I got so livid when I heard about that! And how about a raise? It's not enough for all the extra hard work we do. It's not worth even the highest amount we can earn. I feel like a work horse every day and get closer and closer to looking for a completely different job. If you don't care about us, why should I care about sticking around to make you look good?

Pros

If you have good relationship with your manager and you can trust them to have your back, it is an amazing place to work, and you will find success easy.

Cons

If you have lost the confidence of your manager, or have bad communication with your manager, it makes it very hard to be seen and be successful.
