Pros
Truthfully, the deli is the last place you want to end up. According to most people. I actually enjoyed my time there because I always had at least 3 things to do at any given time. Being short-staffed and constantly suffering budget cuts makes sure that you always have more work to do than you can reasonably expect to get done. Sarcasm aside, I did like the amount of work. It was much better than stocking the same shelf for 2 hours or facing shelves. I also had an awesome manager who would defend us against the store director if the store director was in the wrong. My manager not only saved me from getting fired over a drunkard of a customer, she also recognized my hard work by jumping me to the pay cap after only 4 months of working there.
Cons
This is retail. Retail is not fun because customers don't realize how annoying and rude they are. Retail is also not fun because corporate always wants you to get more work done with fewer resources. The deli sucks because it typically loses a store money and directly interacts with customers, so you get both of the above extra hard. Shout outs to cashiers for having to deal with every customer, though. The pay cap was also much lower in the deli and came with a more stressful work environment than the rest of the store.
