Pros

Store 613-Federal Way Boise, Idaho There were a few managers in different dept.'s other than my own who were civil and even nice. The HR's were always cordial and tried to find solutions to any issues. There are health benefits, 401k, and paid vacation.

Cons

Don't work in CCK-Cashiering. It was the worst customer service job I have ever had. Management basically bullied anyone they didn't like. Multiple people walked out and quit. Bringing up concerns with management was pointless-there was no initiative to resolving situations with civility and forget about any compromises/solutions. If you are a student, Fred Meyer is inflexible when it comes to your availability. There is no room for advancement like they promise because the positions are already filled and managers are more likely to promote their friends than hard working employees. They say they encourage and support their employees in acquiring degrees that they can apply toward company positions but good luck finding a manager that cares about your future dreams in the company or university for that matter. If you made friends with other dept. managers or employees then it was easier to transfer over to somewhere else. Good luck if they don't like you. No amount of hard work will get you anywhere.

Pros

I would say the most important Pros is benefits for all employees and employee's discount.

Cons

Even though it says "flexible hours", it is not really flexible. The pay is not fair. Cashiers in non-food departments get less pay than cashiers in front-end doing the same job. The management is different by the store as well as the work environment and culture.
