Pros
- It is a good company to start your career in Turkey, maybe the only within the R&D for the automotive industry. - International company, coworkers are from all around the world. You can see different cultures and getting knowledge from Ford of Europe and Ford of North America. - Related to your department and your supervisor, you can work freely and do what you want for your projects. - Moving to Sancaktepe from Gebze. - You can come up with ideas, easily present it to the management. - Coworkers are very friendly and almost everybody trying to help you. - Overtime payment exists. - Your manager or your supervisor doesn't give you command, they are just giving you the right direction. - Your personal area(desk, computer etc.) are enough. (Due to recent growth in the number of employees, office is jammed.) - In spite of all cons, it is a good experience you can in automotive industry.
Cons
- I couldn't latch the Otosan absolutely. There is no enough social activities, maybe the because of the following reasons. - Management says that "Master and PhD are supported." If you are working full time, you have to compensate the time when you are at university by doing overtime. 9 hours for one day for university, you can do 3 hours overtime for 3 days, or you can do 9 hours on Saturday. Work-Student-Life balance will be ruined, if you want to resume your academic career. If you finished the master education, also you get nothing from management in financially and moral support. - If you are testing the vehicles, you have to do your test regardless of driving in public roads. You may push the limits in the traffic, it is accepting "normal" by the management. There is not test track. Also, vehicle park ground is gravel, it is a marsh area, when weather is rainy for couple of days. - It is in the Koç group. So, Otosan is in the competition with the other companies in the Koç group, like Arçelik, Yapı Kredi etc. Revenues of Koç group companies are compared and related the revenue, company get the investment and so in view of employee the raise. - Part-time workers do not get overtime payments. - 07:45-18:10 working hours. Most people are complaining about working hours, so they come at 07:45 but started to work at 9.00 and finish it at 17:15. Furthermore, they always say that " I am too busy, I can't keep up with it, I do not get enough for this job". That's way well-behaved employees are getting troubles. - In general, most of the coworkers are not good at answering emails and call phones, if you are need something, you have to build close relationship with the people. Otherwise, in professional way, they are not doing anything and it is like tradition. You have to ask people at least couple of times to do the job what they are paid for.(Even you informed them long time ago.) - Salary is not good related the job you do. - There is no salary policy for qualifications that are required to do the job. A person who is too busy, dealing with real engineering problems, traveling abroad often gets same salary with the person who can find time to get chat with coworkers, give frequently breaks and not have to think to do the job. - There is no bonus from company revenue especially for the new year. Otosan: 2014 expected turnover is 10.3 billion TL and 2013 revenue is 3.3 billion TL. - You are nothing in the eyes of the top management. If you quit the job, it doesn't matter. A new engineer graduate will fill the gap. - If you are working in the Otosan for 2 or 3 years, your salary is a little higher than the recently graduated coworker.. But annoyingly, your salary is much lower than a new coworker who has 2-3 years experience from outside of Otosan.
