Pros

- Decent pay (to get you through the door) - Good location & office - Some nice people work there - Actual scope/pipeline for projects quite good

Cons

- Very, very hierarchical structure in place (maybe not applicable to all parts of the business though), and lines of communication quite restrictive in that it felt like consultation with stakeholders had to be done via managers for the sake of politics. - Major lack of training and networking on the non-credit analyst side, and no encouragement to do personal development either...until it comes to review time where it can then either (a) go into next years objectives because you were lacking this year, or (b) failed to do it this year as was stated in your previous objectives - basically both angles nit picking when it suits... - Review process quite poor, inconsistent and not regulated well enough. Found that reviews ended up being quite hyper critical about things that were quite minor, yet the flipside to that would be praise would be generalised. This systematically happened to the point where you would note tiny negatives yourself throughout the year and know "OK, that's gonna be a 10 minute discussion in my review then!" Scoring systems were odd too, and also too heavily reliant on personal connection between manager-employee. Some people would get back-to-back promotions which seemed odd - see 'advice to management' section for my recommendation on this point, as the current system is quite frankly, a joke. Though if you're reading this and thinking of joining Fitch, a word of advice: suck up, you'll progress quicker. Quite old school when it comes to IT, still using desktops and therefore working from home being arduous if you ever want to do that - needing to send a request to IT to borrow a laptop. The culture seemed to dislike working from home too, and office presence and being seen to work late also being quite prevalent (e.g. there'd always be a bit of hesitation in leaving at 4:30 even if you'd been in since 7am).
