If you've got options, would recommend caution. - Supply Chain Firmenich Employee Review

Pros

Salary competitive with manuf, chem industry, not pharma level.

Cons

While Firmenich's NJ operation used to be a paternalistic, European style company that looked after its employees through their career, sadly they have become Americanized. They steadily reduced the benefits paid to US employees: ceasing the pension, off shoring key IT functions, hiring more part-time contractors and less full time, and having periodic pharma style layoffs. It's an unknown company unlike a pharma or CPG firm, so the name won't sell as well on your resume. Management, well depends on who you get and where you report to. Unfortunate to see companies with loyal employees who would work their whole career, evolve into the shorter term focus. Fine for a short term position, but career ladder, long term opportunities for growth, may not be there.

Pros

Range of creative, scientific, business, supply chain and support jobs. Global experience and mobility opportunities (at mid to high level positions). Good health benefits compared to many other companies. Company is strong financially and growing financially (but opportunities are being filled by outside talent, not internally)

Cons

Pervasive clique-oriented culture and sink-or-swim for those not in a protected group, both which play key roles in advancement opportunities. Perception and network matters more than individual results. Inequitable distribution of heads to sites in dire need. Poor HR environment for quality employee support, growth, and development. Burnout becoming very pervasive, with company asking for more-and-more. IS systems are cumbersome and poorly designed...creative more inefficiency instead of solving efficiency issues.
