Short term thinking, no job security - Consultant Experian Employee Review

Pros

Flexible remote working. Pay, benefits and bonus are pretty standard but nothing special. They have some industry leading products in a triopoly. Has the benefit of big, well known brand, allowing them to be mediocre in an industry with only two mediocre competitors.

Cons

Ultimately you are just a number. For all the propaganda about being a great place to work, the very stanard benefits of double matched pension, life assurance etc the next end of financial year could be your last. If someone looks at a spreadsheet and decides your team needs to cut wage budget this year you will be made redundant. It doesn't matter if you have the potential to bring in millions over the next ten years. Everything is just year to year. When a company has a dedicated SharePoint site for redundancy with more documentation than the products you are trying to sell, you know it happens a lot. Commission and sales targets create a bad culture. Typically people are out for themselves and selling what makes them comission rather than the best solution for the client. If targets have been met then work will be banked till next year when they have new targets. There are far too many different roles that all do the same thing. You will hear the term Experian bus quite a lot. And you will understand what that means when you go to your first client meeting with 10 people from Experian talking to one or two people from the client. Don't be surprised if someone tries to throw you under that bus. Innovation is mainly in the form of buying an innovative company and then letting it die. You might hear agile ways of working, what you will see is Gantt charts.

Pros

Decent salary & benefits, monthly no internal meeting days

Cons

Friendly reminder that HR does not care about you. They care about staff with seniority, whom they will allow to retaliate despite that being against company policies. Think twice about reporting the higher ups because it will come back to haunt you, guaranteed. Also, AI is the only thing that matters anymore. Watching the volume of once-impressive colleagues become so single and simple minded through constant AI usage is not only disappointing but genuinely alarming. Thinking for oneself is no longer the standard, it seems, and speaking against such unfettered use of AI in all things will get you professionally ostracized.
