Pros

Evonik has undertaken a program to become more diverse and has recognized the need for more female executives. They have also begun a professional, well thought out approach to developing their talent in North America in response to the recognized need for such. Good performers are rewarded and the tuition reimbursement benefit is the absolute best. 100% paid up front - books, fees and all. They are a paternalistic company keeping current with benefits and costs. In the next few years, employees are going to witness many positive changes in the way Evonik goes forward as a unified corporation within NA. In the past there were many inbound expats coming from Germany. The quickest way toward advancement for qualified candidates is to be mobile and willing to accept assignments in other locations. Currently, we have more outbound expats than inbound - so things are changing.

Cons

Many individual managers need more training in how to be a good people manager.

Pros

Pay is good, bonuses are low, benefits have decreased every year Lunch in cafeteria is great Shift relief time was good, had enough time after work to be with family We sure miss Bonnie out there , she’s great.

Cons

Micromanaging - Extreme lack of trust Overall morale for the whole site is way down starting from 2018 Bias Backstabbing Incompetency - certain employees promoted to next level without actually knowing or understanding the process No work life balance, we’re told that doesn’t apply to production workers. Overtime hours avg 400-700 hours a year No room for employee growth or thoughts on process productivity/troubleshooting acknowledged if you’re not in the clique 3-2-2-3 shift schedule swapping from nights to day each time led to overall fatigue. Needs to be 2 weeks of nights and 2 weeks of days. HR is an overall joke, they used to be superb until COVID and the new site manager. Preach safety but turn a blind eye when it’s convenient to reach production. Then fault the operators or maintenance personnel if something happens.
