Pros

Brand awareness with Customers - you can always get appointments. The benefits are good, as is expected with large Technology companies. Work/Life balance and flexibility are emphasized very well.

Cons

Dell is a great company from a culture standpoint, it's just not a great company to work in Sales. They deliver random Quotas every half with very little explanation. Your Manager/Director has almost no input into the Quota setting - he/she has little input into their own Quota. With the Quota setting so random, and Comp plans based in based on half-year periods, your performance fluctuates. When you do too well - they cap your commission using a "windfall" clause in the comp plan. When you don't do well there is no recourse - no resetting the Quota mid-half when they know it's a big miss. And because Dell pays against Quota based on shipping not booking, they have line of sight to your backlog when assigning your Quota for the next FY. This severely inhibits your ability to overachieve. It's also hard to be in Sales when you can't get travel approved. Dell is VERY frugal, and since Covid they've really tightened even more. Again, this is nothing like the EMC model. Dell Executive Management seems to favor a sales model where the brand sells itself, and Sales Reps are facilitators for Customers who want to do business. The type of Sales role is easy to fill with lower-level paying Sales roles, people living in Austin and staying on Zoom calls all day long. You should expect to get Zoom fatigue if you go to work at Dell. It's every day since Covid - Zoom to WebEx to Teams to Zoom, back to back all day. The Executive Leadership in Sales has some major gaps in talent versus the EMC days. Sure, Michael Dell is an industry visionary. But who hires John Byrne, who's from Scotland and has a thick accent, to run America's Sales? John actually wore a kilt to the America's Presidents Club kickoff ceremony this year! It's great that he is proud of his heritage - but this is the AMERICA'S Presidents Club. Why don't they have anyone from the Americas running the Americas??

Pros

At this point? None honestly.

Cons

They did a complete 180 since I got hired. Came in as remote during COVID and now that they forced most people back to the office, they made us 3rd class citizens in the company. Can't get a raise, a promotion, any spiffs or even the same contests that the people in the office do. This company does not keep promises and has been constantly doing workforce reductions ever year like clockwork for 4 years now. The COO Jeff Clarke is an absolute clown as well, you have to go into the office dressed as business casual, but this guy goes to One Dell World in undersized lame t-shirts every year. Hypocrisy at all levels of this company. Just looking for a good opportunity and I am out, after talking to my co workers I feel like 70-80% feel the same. The tools also suck and are down half the time as well.
