Pros
I enjoyed working with brides and talking about weddings all day. It's definitely a fun atmosphere and unlike any retail job I've ever had.
Cons
Management is more concerned with meeting sales goals than they are about giving the bride want she truly wants. Stylists are paid minimum wage, no matter their experience level. You do have the opportunity to make commission, anywhere from .5-4% of your sales, but you have to hit very high goals and track everything yourself. Also, if a bride returns something, then that goes against your commission sales. The mentality from upper management combined with the low pay structure creates a very stressed environment, and unfortunately, the bride is the one who suffers most of the time. Management frequently tells you to scare the bride into buying by exaggerating how soon they need to order and pretending like the dress will be sold out if they don't buy right away. It's just a very pushy environment where no one is completely honest with the customer.
