Pros

The pros of this job really come from the coworkers and relationships you build. Other than that, there aren't many. If you don't work with a good group of people or have good customers, the job will be unbearable.

Cons

Where do I begin? The pressure to make sales begins the second you walk in the door. The commission scale is an absolute joke. In my district, you cannot be a full-time consultant, so the most you can possibly make is a measly 4% of your eligible sales. The pressure from upper management often times makes it an unenjoyable experience for the brides because of the process they want you to take to sell to them. Instead of focusing on the bride, they want you to push bridesmaids on her the second you begin talking to them. They want you to sell at least one bridesmaid per hour you work, which is near impossible if you want to keep your bridal conversion of 65%. Despite constantly bringing in the highest volume of sales each week, I am constantly berated about all the categories I didn't hit. I am rarely thanked for the work I put in every day. Not to mention the amount of breaks I have to miss because I'm the only consultant in the store. Our turnover rate is so high, we have had 30 people come and go within the year. Don't work for this company if you think you'll enjoy working with brides or need a part-time position. The hours are sometimes just short of full-time hours (and the more hours you work, the more you sales are divided up which can plummet your commission percentages). I am sometimes scheduled to work 36 hours. If you really want to do what you see on Say Yes To The Dress, work at a boutique with a better reputation. Really research what you're getting yourself into. The few remaining consultants at my location are ALL actively looking for other work (including myself), if you needed any more convincing.

Fun place to work and nice to be apart of something bigger.

Cons

Total revolving door for employees, managers and everything else. No commission and store is worn down along with systems.
