Pros
The shifts go by quickly because it is so busy. The associate discount is also a benefit, seeing as most employees there are interested in what the store is selling in the first place.
Cons
Management expects part time college associates to treat Dick's Sporting Goods as if it is their entire career. We receive constant feedback on our headsets (which must be worn at all times) about the sales numbers for that day- all disguised under the helm of 'excellent customer service'. You feel dirty pushing all these unnecessary products on families who clearly cannot afford it all, but want to make their kids happy. Sales associates do not receive commission for their efforts- most other retailers will provide their employees with some kind of compensation. The management was very disrespectful- I was even hung up on by a frustrated manager. Very unprofessional. The store I worked for has already had an almost 90% turnover since July- and the other 10% is just looking for another job before they can leave. No one is happy working there.
