Pros
Get to meet a lot of interesting people. Has potential to be a fun, fast-paced environment. Marriott discount if very nice and can be used at any of Marriott's 30 brands.
Cons
This Courtyard in particular was not very organized. I felt working at the Bistro was somewhat of a toxic environment. Some workers were quite rude and there was not much of a focus on customer service. Management would not let us go out of they way to help customers. They were very stingy and made us charge for plastic water cups and utensils if the guest did not order food. I felt like such an idiot making guests guests pay for a damn cup of water or plastic fork, but our manager was SOO uptight about it and eyes were always watching. Some employees really treated me badly. They made you feel stupid when you messed up and I was physically pushed several times both at the register in front of guests and where we made food. There was always so much chaos and drama. But I honestly don't think all Courtyards are like this. It is a franchise and I imagine it would be a pretty awesome job if it was managed better and rude behavior wasn't tolerated. The hotel actually didn't pass their audit from corporate Marriott making sure that they were keeping up to Marriott Standards and were nearly stripped of their "Courtyard by Marriott" name. I really do love Marriott as a company. I worked at a different hotel that was owned by Marriott and it was totally awesome. This location in particular was just not being ran very well.
