      It is a large institution so there are options for moving laterally or up, depending on your career field and experience.

      Cons

      With a large institution comes layers and layers of bureaucracy so it can be quite frustrating to go through all of the necessary hurdles and get the job done.

      My job with the Columbia Population Research Center is fully remote, which is a great perk. I can also create my own schedule and work any day of the week.

      The pay could be better.

      The work when I had it was amazing, I really appreciated it for what it gave me.

      Cons

      Unfortunately, with the change in management came zero transparency and rules for thee, not for me. It's led to really weird decisions.
