Pros
You get to see how things are done behind the scenes at a wide variety of large companies.
Cons
In my experience, staffing decisions often favored offshore delivery teams over U.S.-based employees. I felt that U.S.-based staff were sometimes kept on projects just long enough to establish the client relationship or stabilize delivery, then work was shifted offshore. This created instability and made career development difficult.
Internal mobility was frustrating. The job board existed, but I did not see it function as a realistic path to my next project. I also felt pressured to express interest in roles that were poor fits, including short-term roles requiring relocation.
Raises were limited or nonexistent in my experience. Basic internal processes, such as provisioning software licenses, often required excessive approvals, manual email workflows, and scheduled support calls.
