Pros

Being in the Summer Analyst program was considered prestigious. Working for Merrill, Goldman, Citigroup or Lazard is a great accomplishment.

Cons

The whole summer analyst program is simply over hyped. Interns don't really make that much and are forced into cold-calling, answering phones and essentially doing b--tch work. You learn very little in terms of finance and struggle to even grasp concepts of what the financial world is really about. Financial Advisers are selling bs advice from above and invest your money without much of a guarantee or foresight. It has given me a very negative opinion on finance

Pros

Hybrid schedule, supportive managers, opportunities

Cons

Once you’re in, comp basically plateaus. Layoffs are happening across the board, which tends to be the full-time culture of citi. The vibe is very much “run lean” until something actually breaks, and only then consider adding headcount. You have to be intentional about protecting your work-life balance, because the implicit expectation is that you’re always on—24/7, 365—without the support of a properly staffed team.
