Very limited communication between corporate and the stores. Inconsistent policies on everything from returns to commission (whether it's pooled for the store or individual). Stores also have different policies for things as simple as the hold policy (i.e. if things are on sale can you put them on hold, if you can for how long, etc). Replenishment on merchandise was disjointed and poorly managed. Items were put on sale at too large of a discount way too soon.
