Pros
I loved the students at Challenger. These are bright-minded kids who are hungry to learn. They made work enjoyable. I also was very passionate about the curriculum. Challenger teaches great work and study habits, values, and subjects. Lastly, there seemed to be potential to grow with the company.
Cons
Cons? Just about everything else. Management places too much stress on teachers. I was expected to plan lessons for, teach, and grade work in 11+ subjects. They provide great resources, but no time. The days are scheduled very tightly so there was no time during the day to plan or grade. So, any prep needed to be done outside of work. This includes having work examples, worksheets, lessons, and materials ready to go at the start of every day. The job was consuming my life- taking about 60 hours/week. I would say the pay was nice, but the salary was not enough to compensate my time both at work and at home. Those at the top of the company were making 7-8 times my salary, as well, which was discouraging.
