Pros

37% STIP for Salary Grades 26+... oh yeah, they cut it to zero three times over the past five years. Also, no merit raises once again!

Cons

The RI Chief Financial Officer is a disaster of a leader. He is more or so an anti-leader. He acts like a child in meetings, talks about staff behind their backs, and clings on to his "accomplishments" he did as a staff. It's almost embarrassing to watch him in meetings. You can tell he knows he is failing and is blaming things on others. He just repeats what the people above him say even if they don't make sense for RI. He's just a suck-up. It's sad. Caterpillar also constantly expects you to up and move your family. Your kid is about about to go into high school? Too bad! You are moving to Seguin, Texas to get a promotion. Three years later, off to a new factory city. I hope you enjoy factory towns! I live in Peoria and am okay with staying here, but I'll have to move my kids to go up further. Deerfield didn't really work out. Turn over has been high. They have lost very good mid-management people because of the location. Further, no one from here in Peoria wants to go up there. Also, if you are from Chicago, be expected to move to Peoria as well. CAT is in two dying industries. Oil and Mining. We need a strategy change and quick.

Pros

Good pay Some people in the company are great

Cons

Poorly thought out placement- I was put on a team across the country from where i lived the entired team was new to caterpillar because their company was bought out by cat. They had never had any form of intern before and didnt have anyone else who was remote other then me. Because of time differences the manager reguarly expected me to work off the clock but wouldnt give me project during work hours. No room for growth within team i was stuck to- i asked on multiple occasions how i could stand out and get a permanent position within cat since i was one semester from grafuating and was told by multiple people to just deal with my current role and leave cat because "the only real way to get in is if you work as temp worker and they just hapoen to decide to bring u on internally from that"
